No not in terms of Miguel's song, but I'm giving a quick post about my outfit today because I am so behind on my school work. Being at school today, while I was taking pics, just reminded me of all the things I have in store for the next 3 weeks.
So here it is in a quick sentence...I wore my 2 pieces I think bring life to any outfit: my cardigan and leopard print belt!
What spruces up your wardrobe?!

Too Grown For This
Remember those leopard/cheetah...let's just call them animal print pants in my post 'Like Mother, Like Daughter?' I told you all about how my mom handed down those beauties to me and how I planned to get them altered...and most importantly I told you to stay tuned to how I styled them.
Well, now I can finally show you the finished product! I got my pants taken in at the waist and the pant leg tapered at a local alterations shop for a reasonable price. The outcome? A harem style pair of printed pants with a high waist that no one else has. And I love them; not only are they comfortable, they are just the right mixture of party and class. I got a lot of compliments on them when I wore them to my alma mater, UGA, for our annual Greek step show.
I enjoyed the show as I went to support my former students that have now grown up. I feel so old just looking at them. Just being around them just makes me feel like my skin is wrinkling as I stand in their presence but then again I'm glad I graduated when I did. These bustas wanted to fight at the after party and I really felt like an old woman. Those fights, yes multiple, led to my saying for the night 'I'm too grown for this.' My attitude matched my outfit for the night, I guess.

Learning to Sew
I have a sewing machine and I don't remember how to use it. I hate to admit this but it's true but I found a place in town that has learn-to-sew classes. It's my birthday gift from my mom because she always wanted to me to be able to sew, hem, and replace buttons, and I got to agree: it's an important skill to have nowadays. I could now be able to fix something up that I thrifted or if a button falls off of a jacket, I could fix it. Or the thing I'm most excited about to take away from these classes is garment construction so I can make my own clothes...now I have this fabric and if I could sketch I would pretend to be a fashion designer

J. Crew
I am an avid fan of J. Crew. I stalk the store in Perimeter Mall every few weeks or so to see if the new catalog is in, so I can peruse the bright pages of master crafted shoes and clothes for inspiration. As of late though, I have tried to create a "J. Crew look" without paying the price (one day I will afford it). I think the juxtaposition of fabrics and colors just touches my heart, and the visuals send my mind into overload with ideas. I have shopped my closet to make these outfits as close to what I think a J. Crew look might be...and I think I succeeded with this outfit.
The cardigan is from F21, the top is from Goodwill, the pants are from Charlotte Russe, the belt from New York & Co, the necklace c/o of Ecologie, and the shoes by Wanted.

World Swap Day
This past Saturday I had the pleasure of participating in my first ever swap event! It was hosted by the lovely ladies, Karin of Two Stylish Kays and Karrie of Virtuous Styles, and B&R thrift store on Roswell Rd.
I showed up and signed in...then the waiting game began as I was in the sixth round of swappers. I couldn't hide my excitement as the rules were given out...5 minutes for the first round and we had to pick out only 3 items.
That was a hard measure to follow because there were so many awesome pieces to choose from. The racks were organized by small, medium, large, and extra large plus shoes and accessories filled the room. Then after all groups were done we went back for a free for all stuffing as many pieces as we could into our bags...talk about the fashion feathers flying! I walked away from the experience with awesome new clothes for $11 and a wonderful story to tell when I wear each item I walked away it.
I actually wore some shorts that I found that very night for a friend's birthday party. I can say I'm a swapper for life!
The pics in order: what I wore during the swap>> jacket via Ross | shirt: forever 21 | leggings and belt: New York & Co | boots: madden girl | watch: Michael Kors | bag via TJ Maxx
•Shirt a fellow swapper gave to me from the contest pieces
•the birthday party outfit>> blazer: thrifted | shirt same from earlier in the day | shorts: Banana Republic via the swap love | stockings: via Ross
•fellow swapper who gave me the awesome contest shirt looking like everything in the jacket she won
•swap sticker

Take My Belt Off...
Hey loves!
I was wearing an outfit (post to come soon) and I wanted to wear my leopard print belt and it didn't fit around my hips. It would have set my outfit off, J. Crew style (more on that later, I am so catching inspiration from them right now), but I had to settle for a larger belt that was ratted and tattered from being knotted around my waist in past usage.
I seriously considered going out and finding a another, longer leopard print belt. But then, I would be buying every belt I like in multiples. Uh, not gonna happen. By all means, if you got the money to do it, then consider it. I don't have the money because I'm living off that student loan money and I got to make it last.
Sooo, I have decided to buy the larger belt size (if it's a thrift find then clearly this won't apply because I won't pass up a cute belt if even if it can't be altered) and get extra holes punched in it so I can have the option of wearing it on my waist or hips. Most shoe repair stores will do it for a very low rate, or in some cases for free (as with my mom's case since she is like the man's only customer. I kid, I kid). Of course, find out what it will cost you in your area or buy a hole puncher for leather at a local craft/sewing store and you could do it yourself.
Now I don't want a belt full of holes either, so I suggest trying the belt on your waist and marking where you would want the belt to fit. Then get 3 holes punched; one for the original mark, then one evenly spaced in front of the original and behind.
This is what I've decided I'm going to do in 2012. I'll be back to let you know if keep it up or if I abandon it! But, hey, now I've got options! P.S. Who knows what song my title is from?!
